TLC: I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant

I just watched a show on TLC called I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant.  My parents left a little while ago, I was too tired to clean up the house, or do much of anything, so I went a laid on the couch and turned on the television. I was in need of some vegging time after the whirlwind of company and shopping.

I was going through the guide and stumbled upon this show.  The title immediately grabbed my attention and I tuned in.  I think my jaw was on the floor the entire time.  They shared the stories of 4 different women who were pregnant, and had no idea until moment before giving birth.

1 had false positives on 2 home pregnancy tests and had no symptoms.  One had not had a menstrual cycle in 14 years.  One woman gave birth to TWINS.  The husband of one of the women was actually pulled over by the cops for speeding on the way to the hospital.  By the time they had finished questioning him and let him go see his wife, she had already given birth.  Most of these babies were big, too.  7 and 8 pounders.  Incredibly, not one of these woman drank or smoked during their unknown pregnancy.  It totally and completely boggles my mind how this can happen.  With every pregnant woman I have known it has been incredibly obvious to the pregnant woman, as well as anyone else around her, that she is in fact growing new life inside of her.

My grandmother gave birth to two sons in early 1947.  She knew she was pregnant, but was only expecting one baby.  My father was a complete surprise.  This, I can understand.  It was 1947.  Medical technology was not anywhere near what it is today.  An incredibly shocking surprise for my grandparents, yes, but one that I can wrap my head around.  I can comprehend how that happened.  I am still working on comprehending how some women could not know their bodies were going through such tremendous change.  How can some women's bodies have such drastically different pregnancies?  How can there be NO symptoms for some when most women have such a wide array of them?

I don't even know how one would deal with being given no advance warning whatsoever for such an incredibly life-altering event.  I guess you just find some way, because you have to.

Webisode: You can check out a clip of a young 21 year old woman's story here.

FYI:  If you take antibiotics while on the pill, it could make the pills less effective.  Good to know!

Why that is very good to know! I've heard of so many stories of people not knowing that they were pregnant. I can't even imagine not knowing... I mean isn't it supposed to mess you up with all the hormone changes in your system? Is this just proof that everything really is just 'mind over matter'?!

I can't imagine not knowing, but then again some people just are not in tune with their bodies I guess.

Even with the ones I lost before the first trimester was over, I KNEW when I was. Of course this was in the days before pregnancy tests at the drug store....you had to kill a rabbit in my childbearing days

I also wrote about this today after watching it last night.
It was beyond ridiculous! The woman who honestly thought she'd just had a bowel movement, only to see a baby in the toilet?! That was insanity. I can surely tell the difference between a mass moving through the rectum vs the vaginal canal.

Does anyone know where I can find free online grant applications?

Thank you for taking the time to write this

I found thisinteresting site from my daughter in law.. Do you have an rss feed? It would make it easier to find. Best wishes and keep up the good info!

Is this a Wordpress site? If so what template? I really like it.

@Victoria My wife and I were both personally insulted by that one 'bowel movement' story. We have a son on the way. Only 18 weeks along so far, and we both know the sacrifices we made and the changes we're going through. So for some bitch to come on tv with a story like that is not just beyond rediculous, it's incredibly insulting to every mother and mother-to-be who put in and are still putting in the sacrifices and hardship such a labor of love demands! Let's all write these TLC people and demand such trash be removed from their network!!

@readysetrelease. Are you ignorant? If you are insulted that are bodies can do such mysterious and wonderful things. You are the Bitch. People wall around this world everyday having things growing in their bodies they are not aware of until it starts altering you in a way that you know is not right. EVERYONE is different! What works for me may not work for you. My pain tolerance maybe much lower then your pain tolerance. And do you as a male realize that anything that happens below is hard to pin point where the pain is coming from? No YOU CANT HAVE CHILDREN. God gave us that wonderful gift. TLC is educational. And if it werent for them these ladies would feel like they were out cast and if they told their story that no one would believe them. It is documented that this happens. Do you as a Male understand that you have made women this way. Because of men, women are always second guessed. Or our problems are not important to you. YOU have no right to condemn a show that is telling us how incredible women's bodies are.! We carry the child and it grows inside us. And if your wife is offended. This MUST BE HER FIRST PREGNANCY!
And would these stories be a Amazing event that the Babies are ALIVE AT ALL!! God gives you what you need. Even though you may not know it at the time.
